An Appeal To Heaven
An Appeal to Heaven with the straight fir tree pointing to the sky was commissioned by George Washington for the ships he purchased with his own money so we might have some type of Navy with which to defend our fledgling country during the Revolutionary War. Massachusetts, a sea faring colony, actually had a navy. They so appreciated Washington's flag they decided to fly it on their navy as well. Every ship at sea had to fly a flag. Then on the back of the shirt is quote from President Washington concerning God and the Bible.
